God Save the Queen

The original name for the country badge for the UK. It was renamed God Save the King in 2022.

England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales also have their own badges, so for example, checking in 5 English beers will get you both this and the Tower of Beer badge.

The United Kingdom has traditionally favoured Ales and Porters and the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has promoted the revival of cask conditioned Ales since 1971.

However, like most of the world, Lagers are now the biggest sellers. Carling (Molson Coors), Carlsburg, Heineken and Stella Artois (Anheuser-Busch InBev) all have a large market share.

Land of the Free

Land of the Free is the country badge for the USA. Simply check in 5 beers made in America to receive it. Then five more for level 2, all the way to level 100 once you have had 500 US beers.landfree

The beer industry in the States is dominated by several big companies: Anheuser-Busch InBev (Budweiser, Bud light), Molson Coors (Coors, Miller) and Pabst. The Lite Weight and All American badges recognise this dominance.

Despite this, America is also really the “home”of craft beer with hoppy American pale ales launching the craft movement into what it is today. Pioneers of this movement include Sierra Nevada, Boston Beer Co (Samuel Adams), Lagunitas, Goose Island, Russian River, Dogfish Head, Modern Times and Oskar Blues.

Several of these companies have now been bought by the bigger players. This has resulted in an Independence movement by the remaining small players. Untappd has acknowledged this movement with the Cheers to Independent U.S. Craft Breweries badge.
