Have 5 Barleywines to earn The Wine of Beers badge. Untappd recognises three styles of Barleywine: American, English and Other, and Rye Wine and Wheat wine also count towards this badge.

A Barleywine is a strong ale of at least 6%, and usually more. They are rather sweet, due to the amount of malt added to achieve the desired ABV. Some beer critics consider them to be indistinguishable from Old Ales.

And no, despite the name, Barleywines are not a wine and contain no grapes.

Low Gravity

Have 5 Non-Alcoholic Beers to get the Low Gravity badge.

Named for a way to measure alcohol during the brewing process, make sure your check ins are listed as the style of ‘Non-Alcoholic Beer’ to count for this badge. There are ten sub styles currently recognised on Untappd: IPA, Lager, Pale Ale, Porter / Stout, Shandy / Radler, Sour, Wheat Beer, Mead, Cider / Perry and Other.

Middle of the Road

Have 5 beers that have an ABV of anywhere between 5 and 10% to claim the Middle of the Road badge.

As the vast majority of craft beers fall into this gap, this one shouldn’t be a problem. Beers 5% and under count towards Riding Steady, while 10% and over count for the Sky’s the Limit badge.

Riding Steady

Riding Steady should be a fairly simple badge to get. For this one, check into 5 beers with an ABV lower than 5%.

ABV stands for Alcohol by Volume and measures how much alcohol is in the beer. Not all beers on Untappd list their ABV so make sure yours does so it counts towards the badge. Steady

Session Life

Untappd’s badge for Session IPAs. Have 5 to claim this one, and of course it levels up to level 100.

A session IPA or India Session Ale includes low alcohol options, but really any IPA under 5% is now counted in the category.

Sky’s the Limit

Another badge for strong beers, and this one’s the big one. Have 5 beers with an ABV of 10% or more! Sky

You absolutely don’t have to do this one all in one day, so space them out and pace yourself!

Great strong styles to look out for include Russian Imperial Stouts, Triple IPAs, Quadruples, Eisbocks and Barleywines. Just make sure that it’s 10% or more and the ABV is listed on Untappd.
