Untappd has released its latest style update and its a big one, adding 20 styles and reorganising the Non-Alcoholic and Historical beer categories. Overall 15 badges are affected by the changes. The full list of style changes can be found here but lets have a quick look at what it means for the badges:
- Wheel of Styles can now level up to level 48 (as there are now 244 styles).
- Low Gravity: Adds all new Non-Alcoholic styles.
- Johnny Appleseed: Adds Non-Alcoholic Cider / Perry.
- Heavy Weight: Adds Non-Alcoholic Beer – Porter / Stout.
- I Believe in IPA!: Adds Non-Alcoholic Beer – IPA and IPA – Cold.
- Fields of Gold: Adds Ukrainian Golden Ale.
- Lager Jack: Adds Non-Alcoholic Beer – Lager, Lager – Leichtbier, and Lager – Mexican.
- Bravo for Brown: Adds Historical Beer – Berliner Braunbier.
- Pucker Up: Adds Historical Beer – Berliner Braunbier, Lambic – Other, and Non-Alcoholic Beer – Sour.
- Pale as the Moon: Adds Non-Alcoholic Beer – Pale Ale and Pale Ale – XPA (Extra Pale).
- Hey Honey: Adds Non-Alcoholic Mead and Mead – Session / Short.
- Silence of the Lambics: Adds Lambic – Other.
- You’re Extra Special: Adds Bitter – Best.
- The RADler: Adds Non-Alcoholic Beer – Shandy / Radler.
- Wit, Weiss, and Weizen: Adds Non-Alcoholic Beer – Wheat Beer.
- Beyond a Shadow of a Stout: Adds Non-Alcoholic Beer – Porter / Stout
- To the Port: Adds Non-Alcoholic Beer – Porter / Stout
Controversially, that means a Non-Alcoholic Porter / Stout counts towards both the Port and Stout badges, as well as the Heavy Weight badge! Adding more fuel to the fire over the debate between the two.
