National Homebrew Day was on 7 May and Untappd have released a badge to celebrate. Check into any homebrew between now and the 9 May to claim the badge.
Every two homebrews is also a new level of the Home Brewed Goodness badge, so you might as well have a second.
Another defunct badge, to gain Craft Brewer you had to add 25 beers to the untappd database. This was originally designed to be a follow on from Home Brewer (for adding 10 beers) and be followed up by another badge for adding 100 beers, Brew Master.
Unfortunately, instead of rewarding home brewers these badges instead incentivised users to add duplicate entries to the database. To stop this onslaught of beers such as Bud-Light and BuD LiGhT, the two badges were retired.
Have any 2 beers made by a brewery categorised as a Home Brewery. Easy enough if you or someone you knows makes homebrew.
This badge levels up after every 2 beers, meaning you need 200 home brews to get to level 100.
Depending on the country you are in, home brewing ranges from being completely legal, to being completely illegal and everywhere in between. For example, in some countries it is technically illegal but this is not enforced. The bottom line is, check your local laws before you start so you know what you’re dealing with!
