Buena Onda: Breweries from Argentina

This one is for beers brewed in Argentina. Check in five different ones to claim the badge! As a bonus, they all will also count for Amazons & Andes as well.

Argentina has always had somewhat of a German influence, and this is definitely true in the brewing scene. AB InBev dominate the market however, with local brand Quilmes as well as international brands such as Budweiser, Corona and Stella. It’s main rival is Compañía de las Cervecerías Unidas, which imports Heinekin as well as its local Schneider brand.

Quilmes was founded in 1888 by a German immigrant and has dominated since the early 1900’s. It was bought by Ambev in 2002 which helped AB InBev establish itself as the major player in Argentina.

Sláinte: Breweries from Northern Ireland

This is the country badge for Northern Ireland. Check into 5 beers brewed in Northern Ireland to claim the badge.

Northern Irelands main brand used to be Caffrey’s Irish Ale but this brand is now owned by Molson Coors and brewed in England. Whitewater Brewery is an award-winning microbrewery based in County Down.

Northern Irish beers also count towards the British badge, God Save the King and the Irish badge, the Luck of the Irish.

अच्छी सेहत के लिए: Breweries from India

This is the country badge for India, the most populous country in the world. To get it, check into five beers made by Indian breweries.

The most famous of these has got to be Kingfisher, which is owned by United Breweries. Other major brewers in India include international heavyweights SABMiller, Carlsburg  and Anheuser-Busch Inbev. Other local companies include Mohan Meakin and Bira 91.

Lion beer, which was first brewed in the 1820’s, was Asia’s first beer brand. While it is still produced, it is no longer a market leader and has only a small distribution range.

While India is not exactly a hotspot for beer, it does lend its name to one of the most famous styles of them all, Indian Pale Ale. IPA’s were originally brewed in Britain to survive the long trip over the sea to India, which was a British colony at the time.
